Final Fantasy VI is a truly awe-inspiring tale of hubris, loss, love and hope. With a cast of lovable misfits, albeit with varying focus in their backstories, it manages to successfully cackle its way into enveloping them all in its main tragedy.

Although my sensibilities prefer more character-oriented writing, which did not take front and center half the time, its midpoint undoubtedly justifies it entirely, cementing it as one of the most epic and creatively rich stories in the series.
