Contra, at least its original iteration, proves to be a snappy run and shoot action game that does enough with its runtime to provide an entertaining, fast and hard time at the arcades.

While its level design doesn't do much to impress outside of its outlandish theming, especially in the later levels, its fun to play, responsive yet hard to master gameplay would be more than enough for most players.
